BROOKLYN, MI (WTVB) – Bronson’s Ava Hathaway and Ashlynn Harris along with Union City’s Ben Gautsche earned all-state honors by finishing in the top 30 at the M.H.S.A.A. Lower Peninsula Division Three Cross Country Finals on Saturday at Michigan International Speedway.
Hathaway was 15th in the Division Three girls finals with a time of 18:39.8 while Harris was 24th in a time of 19:04.7.
Union City’s girls ran as a team after winning the regional title last weekend and finished 16th in the state. Skyler Fraley missed All State honors by four places as she was 34th in a time of 19:28.2. Allison Gautsche was 64th, Alissa Skirka was 125th and Parker Williams was 155th.
Union City’s boys also qualified for the state finals and finished 18th. Ben Gautsche earned his all state medal with a 29th place finish in a school record time of 16:15.2.
Jason Shoop was 98th, Cohen Burdick was 146th, Malachi Payne was 164th and Noah June was 174th.
Quincy had two individuals that qualified to run at the State Cross Country Finals. Chayse Jensen finished 178th in the boys race with a time of 17:44.8. This was his second fastest time of the season….11 seconds off his PR. Lainey Yearling finished 128th in the girls final with a time of 21:11.8 which was her third fastest time of the season.
Gwen Eby represented the Coldwater Cardinals at the Division Two Girls Finals. She finished 146th out of 261 runners in a time of 20:36 which capped off her freshman season.
Max Barron of Tekonsha finished 157th in the Boys Division Four finals in a time of 18:37.2. The Hillsdale Academy boys won the Division Four title by 40 points over Holland Calvary Christian. The Hillsdale Academy girls finished third.
