COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council approved a contract on Monday night with the Michigan Department of Transportation for the proposed reconstruction next summer of Butters Avenue between Race Street and Garfield Avenue.
City Manager Keith Baker says the project includes a $375,000 MDOT grant. The estimated cost of the project is $1,050,00 with a local contribution of $675,000.
He pointed out the Butters Avenue work has nothing to do with the bond proposal that was approved by City of Coldwater voters last Tuesday.
The project will include the crushing, shaping and resurfacing of Butters Avenue between Garfield Avenue and Race Street. It will also include concrete curb and gutter and drainage improvements.
Construction is scheduled to take place during the summer of 2025. Butters Avenue was repaved from U.S. 12 to Race Street in August of 2023.
