BUTLER TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Firefighters from four departments had to battle a mobile home fire late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning in Butler Township.
The fire was reported at 1071 Butler Road just west of Clarendon Road at about 11:20 p.m..
Quincy Fire Chief Mike Sherman says firefighters found a working fire in the kitchen of a single wide mobile home.
All of the occupants were out of the building and safe at a neighboring home.
Sherman says two adults and two young children were checked out by paramedics at the scene for possible smoke inhalation but did not require any additional medical attention.
According to Sherman, it was determined the fire started from cooking grease on the kitchen range. Fire and water damage was contained to the kitchen area but significant smoke damage was present throughout the home.
Firefighters were on scene for an hour and a half. The rental home and its contents were not insured and the family is receiving assistance from the Branch County Victims Services Unit.
