QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – A non-profit organization based in Massachusetts has made a charitable donation which will allow the Quincy Police Department’s K9 “Orin” to get a bullet and stab protective vest.
Vested Interest in K9s, Incorporated says the vest is sponsored by Jean Alden of New York and delivery is expected in eight to ten weeks.
Vested Interest in K9s was established in 2009 to assist law enforcement agencies with this potentially lifesaving body armor for their four-legged K9 officers.
Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s has provided over 2,400 protective vests to police departments around the country.
K9 Orin is a two year old Labrador retriever who is certified in narcotics detection and tracking. He became a member of the Quincy Police Department last August and is assigned to Officer Cody Longrey.
Quincy Police has offered K9 Orin’s services to outside agencies within Branch County and Hillsdale County.
