COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A memorial fund which was established in memory of a long time Branch County law enforcement officer has made some local contributions.
The Jeryn Frederick Memorial Fund was established by the family of Jeryn “Jerry” Frederick after he passed away last June. He was a 43 year veteran in law enforcement and pioneered the criminal justice program at the Branch Area Careers Center.
The Memorial Fund has made a $1,500 donation to Scouts BSA Troop 433 in Coldwater. The money will be used to help with the purchase of camping equipment such as new tents and chairs. The Troop will also be able to use the funds towards a big camping trip in the summer of 2022.
In addition, the Fund made a $2,000 donation to the Branch County Sheriff’s Department Dive Team. The money will be used to support new equipment purchases and training.
The Frederick family is also planning to create two scholarships for students of the Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement program at the Careers Center and they also will support students planning to take part in the Agri-Enviromental Wilderness Expedition program organized by the Branch Intermediate School District.
