COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In an effort to alleviate an ongoing staffing issue of being constantly short of dispatchers, Branch County Central Dispatch will be pursuing the services of an employment agency that serves clients around the country.
GetResq911 is based in Colorado. They say they help 911 dispatch centers address critical staffing, overtime and mental health challenges.
Branch County 911 Director Bob Swick told the 911 Board on Wednesday they only have half of the 12 dispatchers needed for a full roster.
With only five regular dispatchers and another in training, Swick says the current staff is working to many hours.
Almost 100 applications were submitted over the last five weeks but only a handful make it through the entire process.
Jennifer Marshall spoke on behalf of GetResq911 which was organized in October of 2023.
After further discussion, the board gave Swick permission to pursue this further pending background checks. He plans to bring this before the Branch County Board of Commissioners during their work session on February 25.
