Lawrence D. “Larry” Woodard, 84, passed away February 11, 2025 at The Laurels of Coldwater.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Coldwater.
The family will receive guests for visitation that morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
He was born March 31, 1940 to Donald and Elizabeth (Bailey) Woodard in Hillsdale, MI.
Larry grew up on a small farm near Allen, MI and graduated from Jonesville High School in 1958. He honorably served our country in the United States Army with the 1st Division at Fort Riley, KS and with the 8th Division in Mannheim, Germany.
Following his military service, he worked as a manager at Earl Enterprises for 6 years, Federal Mogul Corporation in Coldwater, MI for 11 years, Avra Warehouse for five years, and ultimately retired from Peter Eckrich in Quincy, MI, after 28 dedicated years. Larry was a member of the 4-H fair board for 13 years where he also served as a 4-H Club leader for 16 years. He spent 13 years with the local Sherriff’s Posse and three years with the Ovid Township Planning Commission.
Larry was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Coldwater where he taught Sunday School for 26 years, served on the Building and Grounds Board, and sang with both the church’s choir and the Messenger’s Quartet. He was a man of faith and loved the Lord.
Larry held a great love for the outdoors; he was an avid sharpshooter and reloader. His passion for the outdoors also extended to leather designing, woodworking, and building/construction design.
Larry was one of the good guys who would do anything for anyone without expectation of anything in return. He deeply loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Larry will be dearly missed by all!
He is survived by his wife, Charlene (Dow) Woodard of Coldwater; his daughters Tiffany Rocho, Jill (Paul) Sajtar both of Battle Creek; his granddaughter Shevy (Austin) Sawyer; three brothers Virgil (Marcia) Woodard of FL, Ron (Karen) Woodard of Hillsdale, Bruce (Lori Bottoms) Woodard of OK; his sister-in-law Gloria Woodard of Hillsdale; and Rose Marie (Snyder) Casey of Marshall, to whom he was previously married.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Tom Woodard in 2019, and his daughter Kelly Sue Woodard in 1970.
