STEUBEN COUNTY, IN (WTVB) – The Steuben County Coroner’s Office has released the identity of the driver who died on February 1 when his vehicle crashed on State Road 120 near County Road 525 West and burst into flames.
The fatal victim has been identified as 54-year-old Andre David Didrick of rural Orland, Indiana.
The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department said a positive identification was made through the use of DNA analysis.
The Sheriff’s Office said at the time of the crash they found a single passenger
vehicle fully engulfed in flames.
Witnesses indicated that the 2024 Toyota Camry had been traveling at a high rate of speed when Didrick lost control for an unknown reason, slid off the road and collided with the large concrete post. The vehicle then burst into flames.
Once the fire was put out by the Orland and Fremont Fire Departments, Didrick was found deceased inside the vehicle.
Assisting the Sheriff’s Office at the scene were the Indiana State Police, Fremont Fire, Orland Fire, Steuben County EMS, and the Steuben County Coroner’s Office.
