GILEAD TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Commissioner Rick Hollister said during Tuesday’s board meeting that the old Gilead Township Hall is for sale.
A new township hall opened about a year ago. The building at the intersection of Gilead Lake and Southern Roads also houses a Bronson Fire Department satellite station.
It was felt the satellite station was need to help reduce response times, provide access to more water and promote mutual aid agreements with other departments.
The satellite station and new township hall were built on five acres of land leased for $1 from the Branch County Road Commission for 99 years.
The old Gilead Township hall at 850 South Snow Prairie Road is on over 3,000 square feet of property.
It was constructed in 1905 and pictures posted on various real estate sites show parts of the building have fallen into disrepair.
The building is being listed for a sale price of $39,900.
