COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Coalition Against Domestic Violence recently got a financial contribution from Women Who Care of Branch County.
The group voted during its February meeting to give funds to the Branch County Coalition Against Domestic Violence’s Swing for the Fence Project.
The amount donated at the one-hour meeting was $8,800.
The group has now donated a total of over $107,000 to the community.
The Swing for the Fence project consists of three phases which include replacing a current wooden fence and building two playgrounds.
Branch County Coalition Against Domestic Violence Executive Director Kim Hemker says “the project will result in a significant impact to the community as children need a nice and safe place to play and a place to escape the trauma that has been a part of their previous life.”
Hemker also announced during the Thursday Coldwater Area Chamber of Commerce Business for Breakfast that the Sunrise Rotary Club had pledged $37,500 for the project.
It will take an estimated 750 hours of volunteer time to complete the three phase project.
