Our Matriarch, LuAnne Warkoczeski, 86, of Coldwater, passed away peacefully Monday, February 24, 2025, to reunite with the love of her life, Jim, in eternal peace.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, February 28, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Coldwater with Rev. Fr. Dan Hyman officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will take place Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater, with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.
LuAnne was born January 10, 1939 in Fremont, IN, to Dale and Ruth (Young) Pifer. August 29, 1964 she married Ralph James “Jim” Warkoczeski, affectionately known as “Jimbo,” in Coldwater. They shared a beautiful life together until his passing February 6, 2020.
LuAnne dedicated over 20 years to the Community Health Center of Branch County, first as a Candy Striper and later in Medical Records. In 1976, she and Jim embarked on a new adventure, purchasing Newt’s Market in Tekonsha, which they ran until their retirement in 1998. The Warkoczeski family became a cherished part of the Tekonsha community, forming lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories.
LuAnne had a gift for connection, whether in Coldwater, Tekonsha, or the Lake George community. She thrived on seeing familiar faces, sharing stories, and asking about everyone’s family. Her heart belonged to Jimbo, her children, and, above all, her treasured grandchildren.
Later in life, LuAnne embraced being treated like a princess, delighting in Snickers, Talenti Gelato, and anything chocolate. A Bacardi and Coke always brought a sparkle to her eye, and she was known to shake her empty glass for a refill. She was a devoted Notre Dame fan, sharing game-day memories with Jim, her children, and friends. She loved her luncheons with her best friends from high school, complete with margaritas.
LuAnne is survived by her 3 children: Andrew Warkoczeski of Lake George, IN; Suzy (Joe) Gonzalez of Lake George, IN, and Tony (Jenny) Warkoczeski of Berkley, MI. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: David, Matthew, Veronica, and Victoria Gonzalez, and Everly Warkoczeski, as well as her sister-in-law, Susie Killian.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her sister-in-law, Pat; and her brothers-in-law, Mick Paul and Conrad Killian.
We will remember LuAnne as the kindest soul, the sweetest lady who embraced life with gratitude and love. Her absence leaves an irreplaceable void, but we find comfort knowing that Jim was waiting patiently for his “Lula Belle.”
Until we meet again, LuAnne, we love you to pieces, and will think of you every day.
