BANGOR, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Orioles are one victory away from winning the schools first regional title in boys basketball. William Dunn had 19 points while Nathan Karney added 16 points on Monday night to lead the Orioles over Cassopolis 64-60 in the Class C regional semifinals at Bangor.
The game featured nine lead changes. The two teams battled to a 27-27 halftime tie. Quincy took a 41-40 lead into the fourth quarter which they twice built to seven points. The Orioles had a 61-54 lead with just over a minute to go before the Rangers rallied and cut the lead to 62-60.
Cassopolis had the ball in the final seconds with a chance to tie or take the lead but Quincy got a defensive stop with six seconds left. Karney was fouled and sank two foul shots left to seal the 20th victory of the season for the Orioles. Cassopolis finished 18-5.
Quincy is now 20-4 and will play Kalamazoo Christian for the regional title at 7:00pm on Wednesday. The last time the Orioles got to the regional finals was in 2009 when they lost to Schoolcraft.
Kalamazoo Christian is 17-7 after they advanced with a 53-47 overtime victory over Schoolcraft. The Eagles bow out at 22-2.

The 2017-2018 enrollment list from the MHSAA show no change in classes for any of the Branch County schools but there will be some changes in the area. Jonesville will be moving up from Class C to Class B. Two Interstate 8 schools will be changing classes. Parma Western will drop from Class A to Class B while Harper Creek will move up to Class A after being a Class B school.
