COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In girls high school gymnastics Monday, Coldwater won the battle of the border on Monday night as they defeated Angola 126.325-124.2. Coldwater’s Tara Davis was honored at the opening of the meet for Senior night, competing for the final time on the Cardinal floor.
Brooke Neitzert won the balance beam for the Cardinals with a mark of 8.225. She finished third for Coldwater on the vault with a score of 8.15.
Coldwater’s Erica Rodgers was third on the uneven bars with a personal best score of 8.05.
Coldwater was down a full point behind Angola going into the final rotation but won the floor exercise by over three points to win the meet. Coldwater claimed the top three spots to secure the win. Erica Rodgers led the way with a first place finish at 8.925. Claire Sheppard was close behind with her mark of 8.8 to claim second place. Freshman Kelani Phillipp took third with a mark of 8.375.
Rodgers won the all-around with a tally of 32.5. Neitzert claimed third with her total of 32.175 points.
Coldwater travels to St. Johns on Wednesday to close out their regular season competition schedule. The MHSAA Regional meet is scheduled for Saturday, March 4 at Kenowa Hills High School.
