BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB)-The Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan (PAAM) has announced Ms. Tina Callender has been selected to receive the Association’s Frances A. Smith Prosecutor Staff Achievement Award for 2025. This award is being presented to Ms. Callender in recognition of her many years of extraordinary service, leadership, and outstanding contributions to the Calhoun County Prosecutor’s Office and her community.
It will be awarded to her on April 24, 2025.
Tina began employment with the Calhoun County Prosecutor’s Office in 2001, serving under three different elected prosecutors, being promoted to increasingly responsible positions throughout her career. She currently serves as the Appellate Court Coordinator for the office. A graduate with an associate’s degree in applied science from Kellogg Community College, she is also a United States veteran who graduated from the United States Army Administrative Specialist School.
Making this award more special is that the award’s namesake, Francis A. Smith, retired from the Calhoun County Prosecutor’s Office in 2007 after 50 years of dedicated service to the prosecutor’s office and the public, starting her career right after high school. In recognition by PAAM, her portrait hung in the Prosecutor’s Hall in the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island until recently, when the hotel was sold. The portrait has been returned to Calhoun County to be rehung in the Prosecutor’s Office, where our law library is already dedicated to her. Tina is the first awardee from Calhoun County since its inception.
