BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – Battle Creek police arrested a 35 year old Battle Creek man following an incident involving a large fight Thursday afternoon .
Officers responded to the the 300 block of West Michigan avenue around 3:30 , to reports of a large fight involving an estimated 60 individuals. While enroute to the scene, dispatch provided an update to officers that shots had been fired at a house at the scene.
Upon their arrival, police interviewed witnesses that shared that the suspect, had fled the scene.
Additional responding officers quickly located the suspects vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Police were able to detain the suspect and located a firearm in the vehicle.
He was lodged at the Calhoun County Jail on several weapons charges , including carrying a concealed weapon , felon in possession of a firearm, and reckless discharge.
Police have not said what started the fight.
