BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Branch County got a white Christmas after all.
It didn’t look good on Wednesday with temperatures in the low 50’s but a strong cold front came through Wednesday night and Thursday morning which dropped the mercury to near 20 degrees on Christmas Eve morning.
Light snow began falling at the Branch County Memorial Airport just in time for Santa’s arrival on Christmas Eve and continued into the early morning hours on Christmas Day.
Lake effect snow in southwest Michigan led nearly a foot of snow in some locations on Christmas Day.
National Weather Service observers in St. Joseph and Berrien Springs both reported 12 inches of snow while there was a report of 14 inches of snow near Glendora. Another N.W.S. observer at Niles recorded 11 inches of snow.
