COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Similar to most labor markets in the state, Branch County’s seasonally unadjusted unemployment rate dropped in March.
The Michigan Department of Technology, Management, and Budget says the jobless rate for Branch County was 5.0% in March, down from 5.4% in February, but still up from 3.8% in March 2024. The state says there were 1,227 out-of-work in the county last month.
75 of Michigan’s 83 counties saw unemployment rate reductions over the month.
Hillsdale County’s rate in March was 5.9%, with Calhoun County at 6.2% and St. Joseph County at 5.5%.
State officials says the biggest job gains in Michigan in March came in leisure and hospitality and in construction.
