INDIANPOLIS, IN (WTVB)-Anyone driving north on I-69 knows that once they enter Steuben County, they can expect to see lots of billboards advertising marijuana dispensaries located in Michigan, but that kind of advertising will no longer be allowed after the passage of a bill outlawing marijuana advertising in Indiana, where it’s illegal.
The ban was added to a bill dealing with Bureau of Motor Vehicles rules.
The ban applies to outdoor advertising and flyers that are mailed to Indiana residents from pot dispensaries.
Current contracts for advertising marijuana aren’t affected. Once those contracts expire, the pot billboards will disappear.
All of the states surrounding Indiana have legalized some form of marijuana.
