WHEATLAND TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A Jackson County woman was killed on Sunday afternoon in Hillsdale County when a vehicle went out of control, struck a large tree and burst into flames.
Michigan State Police at the Jackson post say the crash happened at about 1:55 p.m. on Somerset Road south of Addison Road.
An initial investigation revealed the vehicle occupied by two Jackson County residents had been traveling north on Somerset Road before the crash took place.
State Police say a 25-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. A 31-year-old man was taken to Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by Somerset Police Department, Somerset EMS and Fire Department, Addison EMS and Fire Department, the Hillsdale/Lenawee County Medical Examiner’s office and the Michigan State Police First District Traffic Crash Reconstructionist.
