QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – Quincy pulled off a major upset Thursday in the MHSAA Division 3 Girls Soccer District Semifinals hosted by the Orioles, defeating #1 seed Columbia Central 2-0.
Laura Bostic opened the scoring for Quincy, finding the net off an assist from Abby Hinds. Freshman Liz Woodward followed up with a goal of her own, assisted by Kenzie Maynard. Both goals came in the first half, giving Quincy a 2-0 lead at the break.
The Golden Eagles applied pressure in the second half, but Quincy’s defense held firm. Senior goalkeeper Danica Swift was a standout in net, recording 8 saves to preserve the shutout.
With the win, Quincy improves to 18-4 on the season and advances to Saturday’s District Final at 10 a.m. against Olivet. The Eagles advanced by beating Michigan Center 2-1 in Thursday’s other District Semifinal contest.
