STURGIS, MI (WTVB) – A Sturgis Advanced Science teacher has been placed on paid administrative leave after St. Joseph County prosecutors filed seven charges against him.
37-year-old Keith Lang is facing three counts of Fourth Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct and four charges involving the possession and distribution of child abusive materials.
Lang has been under investigation for a several weeks following a tip from another school official. Formal charges were filed Monday.
Lang is accused of allegedly fondling at least one student dating back to 2011. His bond has been set at $150,000.
Sturgis Schools Superintendent Thomas Langdon sent a letter home with students, saying that they were cooperating with authorities but that privacy laws prevented them from disclosing details.
The letter asked students that if they had specific information or questions, they should contact their Security Director.
