SHERWOOD TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – The Sherwood Township Planning Commission is recommending to the Township Board a proposed penalty change amendment to the township zoning ordinance.
The Planning Commission wants to reduce the penalty for ordinance violations from criminal down to a municipal civil infraction.
Sherwood Township Planning Commission Secretary Ken Bell has recommended the Township Board not take any action until the proposal is reviewed by the Branch County Planning Commission or a review period of 30 days has expired.
The matter was not taken up by the County Planning Commission during their Wednesday morning meeting since a letter to the County Administrator’s office explaining the possible change had not arrived before the meeting at the County’s Administrators office.
The County Planning Commission meets every three months. Thier next meeting is scheduled for September 3.
