Russell Dale “Russ” Long, 83, of Butler Township passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 27, 2025 at home from natural causes.
In keeping with Russ’s wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial will be held at a later date. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Tekonsha.
The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City.
Russ was born May 10, 1942 to Dale and Emma (Hammond) Long in Tekonsha. He graduated from Tekonsha High School with the Class of 1960. July 14, 1989 he married Sandy Cosand in Fremont, Indiana.
Russ worked at Eaton Corporation in Marshall for 30 years before retiring and also served 8 years as a Branch County Sheriff Reserve. He enjoyed scratch off tickets, fishing, ice fishing, watching television, game shows and eating candy.
Surviving Russ are his wife Sandy Long of Quincy, his stepchildren, Angelina Buckley of Minnesota, John (Rhonda) Santi of Coldwater, Michael Santi of Kentucky, his 8 grandchildren, his 17 great grandchildren, his brothers Jerry (Pat) Long of Tekonsha and Gerry Long of Tekonsha; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Tekonsha, 914 N. Main St. Tekonsha, MI, 49092.
