COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Joshua Creager will spend the next several years in prison after pleading no contest in Branch County Circuit Court to Criminal Sexual Assault First Degree as the result of his illicit conduct with a minor in June 2024.
According to the Branch County Prosecutor’s Office, the charges in this case arose out of an investigation that began in June 2024 after police became aware of suspected sexual contact between the defendant, age 21 to 23, and a minor, age 13 to 14.
As a result, multiple interviews were conducted and digital evidence gathered resulting in a belief that the defendant engaged in sexual intercourse with the victim. During interviews, both parties maintained that the relationship was “consensual”, notwithstanding the age of consent in the State of Michigan.
In consideration of the age of consent in Michigan and relationship between the parties, two counts of CSC First Degree and other various charges related to the sexual activity were authorized at the conclusion of the investigation.
