STEUBEN COUNTY, IN (WTVB) – An ice covered road surface was listed as a factor in a Monday morning accident near Snow Lake in Steuben County.
The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department says the crash happened at about 6:15 a.m. on State Road 120 at County Road 175 West when an eastbound 2005 Ford Escape driven by 42-year-old Jennifer Godbey of Orland slid into the path of a westbound 2018 Dodge Durango that was driven by 46-year-old Sharon Bell of Fremont.
Godbey and a passenger, 12-year-old Ryder Godbey, were taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. Bell was taken to Cameron Hospital by private vehicle for treatment of her injuries. Seat belts were in use by all occupants and the road surface was reported to be ice covered at the time of the crash.
Fremont Police and Firefighters, Steuben County E.M.S. and Steuben County Communications assisted the Sheriff’s Department.
Monday’s crash followed another two vehicle accident late Friday afternoon just after 5:00 p.m.. in Pleasant Lake which sent four persons to area hospitals. The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department says one of the accident victims, 26-year-old Kimberly Custer of Butler, was trapped in her vehicle for nearly an hour. Custer, 36-year-old Tamanda Keesbury of Hicksville, Ohio and two children ages one and eight were taken to area hospitals.
Assisting at the scene were EMS units from Steuben and LaGrange Counties, Fire Rescue units from Pleasant Lake, Hamilton and Salem Center as well as police from Angola and Hamilton.
