COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The use of Personal Communication Devices by Coldwater Community School students would be banned during the school day according to a proposed revised policy that was passed on its first reading Tuesday night during a special C.C.S. School Board meeting.
The board’s Policy Advisory committee along with Superintendent Paul Flynn and High School Principal Doctor Steven Hope met last week to review the proposed changes to the policy which include having student’s phones remain in their locker while classes are in session.
Board member Kristin Lyon-Welch was among those who supported the change.
Flynn hopes the revised policy works in the Coldwater School district like it has elsewhere.
Board member Clair Dean said it will take some getting used to.
A second reading including the final adoption is scheduled for the next board meeting on August 25.
