BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School boys varsity soccer team improved their unbeaten streak to four straight games and took over first place in the Interstate 8 Conference Tuesday with a 6-0 victory at Battle Creek Pennfield.
The Cardinals opened the scoring just 6:32 into the game on an unassisted goal by Ahmed Norman. Despite numerous chances, Coldwater wouldn’t score again until 15 seconds to play in the first half on a goal from Abdulhamid Munnasar, assisted by Essam Ahmed.
Coldwater scored three goals in a three minute stretch on the second half, starting with 27:58 to play. Liam Clark had the first two goals, with the first assisted by Munnasar and the second by Austin Accardi.
The third goal in that stretch was scored by Essam Ahmed, assisted by Nasser Abdullah. The Cardinals closed out the scoring with 16:17 to play on another goal from Ahmed Norman, assisted by Essam Ahmed.
Coldwater outshot Pennfield 30-3, holding the Panthers without a shot in the second half. Franky Ramos had two saves in goal for the Cardinals first shutout of the season.
The varsity team is now 7-5-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the Interstate 8 Conference. They travel to Jackson Northwest for another league contest Thursday.
