PARMA, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater dropped a five-set girls volleyball marathon at Parma Western Wednesday, 27-25, 18-25, 15-25, 25-23, 15-13. For the Cardinals:
- Mya Porter: 13 kills, 14 digs
- Aubrey Gebbink: 10 kills, 2 blocks, 11 digs
- Marie Powers: 10 kills, 7 blocks
- Brooklyn Closson: 8 kills, 6 aces, 2 blocks, 10 digs, 26 assists
- Maren DeBeau: 6 aces, 18 digs
With the loss, Coldwater fell to 9-7-2 overall and 0-2 in the Interstate 8. They will host a quad Saturday afternoon.
Tuesday’s Results
Quincy improved to 6-4-1 overall, 2-0 in the Big 8, as they swept past visiting Stockbridge 25-16, 25-10, 25-23. Ashlyn Fickle led the way for the Orioles with 14 kills, 6 digs, 4 service aces, and 5 assists. Kora Timmons added 8 kills, while Laura Bostic had 6 kills and 3 aces. Kyha Brewer had 6 assists, 5 aces, and 5 digs, and Olivia Davenport tallied 6 assists and a team-high 10 digs. Quincy will compete at the Onsted Invitational on Saturday.
Bronson also improved to 2-0 in the Big 8 with a 25-11, 25-23, 25-18 win against cross-county rival Union City. The Vikings will take a 10-6-3 overall record to Saturday’s Portage Northern Invitational. The Chargers fell to 8-9 overall, 0-2 in the Big 8, and will host Comstock and Webberville on Thursday.
