BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – A little bit of luster was taken off of next Friday’s Homecoming game at Quincy against Union City. There was the potential of both teams entering the contest undefeated. That will no longer be the case following their respective games in Week 4.
Quincy did their part, as they kept Comstock winless on the season by turning a 16-14 halftime deficit to a 28-16 road victory. Noah Kelley had 27 carries for 194 yards and a pair of touchdowns; he finished with 256 all-purpose yards. Quarterback Isaiah Staggs was 10/17 for 103 yards, 2 TDs, and an interception; Noah Rufenacht and Carson Haylett had the TD receptions. Grant Longardner led the defense with 13 tackles. The Orioles improved to 4-0 on the season and are currently tied with Springport atop the Big 8 standings at 2-0.
Meanwhile, Union City lost for the first time this season, as they dropped a 25-18 decision at previously winless Stockbridge. The Chargers fell to 3-1 overall, 2-1 in the Big 8. The game didn’t kick off until 9:30 p.m. due to a shortage of officials.
