COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater hosted its annual Purple Night volleyball match Thursday, as team members recognized important people in their lives that have beaten cancer, are currently fighting cancer, or who have lost their cancer battle. The Cardinals fell to 14-10-4 on the season as they dropped the varsity contest to Eaton Rapids 19-25, 25-21, 27-25, 25-19.
Aubrey Gebbink had 13 kills, 3 blocks, and 8 digs to pace the offense, Mya Porter had 9 kills, 2 blocks, and 15 digs. Kaitlyn Senyk had 6 kills and 5 blocks, while setter Brooklyn Closson had 6 kills, 3 service aces, 13 digs, and 33 assists. Marie Powers added 5 kills, and Maren DeBeau led the defense with 26 digs.
Coldwater won the JV match 25-16, 25-14 and took the freshman contest 25-17, 25-14.
The Cardinals will host defending Interstate 8 champion Harper Creek next Wednesday.
