COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinal girls volleyball team put on a spirited show as they hosted defending Interstate 8 champion Harper Creek Wednesday on Senior Night at the Coach Floyd Eby Gymnasium. The Beavers got the better of the Lady Cards, winning 26-28, 25-19, 25-16, 22-25, 15-6.
Aubrey Gebbink led the way with 13 kills, 4 blocks, and 10 digs, while Mya Porter added 9 kills, 4 blocks, and 7 digs. Marie Powers tallied 7 kills and 6 blocks. Setter Brooklyn Closson dished out 23 assists and had 8 digs, and Maren DeBeau led the defense with 22 digs.
Coldwater fell to 14-11-4 overall and 1-4 in the Interstate 8 with the loss. They will be at a tournament hosted by Hudsonville Unity Christian on Saturday.
Before the varsity contest, seniors Mya Porter, Braylinn Austin, Maren DeBeau, and Abby Garcis were recognized.
Harper Creek won the JV contest 25-21, 25-17. Coldwater took the freshman match 15-25, 25-21, 15-12.
