VERMONTVILLE, MI (WTVB) – The fourth and final Big 8 Conference cross country jamboree of the season took place Tuesday afternoon at Maple Valley High School, with plenty on the line.
Boys
The Bronson and Union City boys teams entered the day separated by only eight points in the league standings, with Quincy not far behind. Quincy won the meet with 51 points, while Bronson was second with 64 points and Union City third with 66 points. In the final league standings, the Vikings won the championship by ten points over the Chargers, 234 to 244. Quincy was third with 270 points.
For Bronson, Brayton Cosby was fifth, Adam Franks 13th, Carter Sikorski 14th, Denver Siler 15th, and Jack Ganton 17th. Union City’s Ben Gautsche won the race, while teammates Cullen Decker was fourth, Noah June seventh, Luke McKown 22nd, and Brady Anthony 32nd. And for Quincy, Chayse Jensen finished third, Hunter Walker sixth, Carter Feltner 11th, Nathan Dunn 12th, and Coy Wood 19th.
Girls
Concord came in first in the girls race with 34 points, while Bronson was second with 43 points. That was enough for the Vikings, who won the first three jamborees, to claim the conference championship with 140 points, 25 more than the runner-up Yellow Jackets. Union City came in third in the race with 76 points and finished third in the conference with 311 points. Quincy was seventh in the race with 152 points and seventh in the final league standings with 620 points.
For Bronson, Ashlynn Harris won the race, while Alonna Goodsell was third, Lydia Wells 10th, Elizabeth Ortiz 14th, and Adelynn Cosby 15th. For Union City, Allison Gautsche came in fourth, Carly Smith 16th, Parker Williams 17th, Elizabeth Arlt 19th, and McKenzie Hawks 20th. And for Quincy Kendyl Musielewicz was 18th, Cali Richards 26th, and Elizabeth Craig 31st.
