LANSING, MI (WTVB) – 58th District Republican State Representative Eric Leutheuser of Hillsdale has been re-elected as majority caucus chair for the upcoming 2019-20 session following a vote on Thursday by State House membership.
The Republican from Hillsdale got 71 percent of the votes as he defeated Democratic challenger Tamara Barnes to win a third term in office during Tuesday’s election.
As Majority Caucus Chair, Leutheuser will help develop policy priorities and preside over meetings of House Republicans. The G.O.P. maintained its majority in the House on Tuesday.
The 58th House District covers Branch and Hillsdale Counties.
Leutheuser serves as the chair of the House Commerce and Trade Committee. He is also a member of the Workforce and Talent Development, Regulatory Reform and Financial Liability Reform committees.
