Gordon E. Miller, 87, of Bronson passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne, IN.
The funeral service will be held Friday, November 7, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel-Gilead Church with Pastor Jim Erwin officiating. Interment will follow at Fry Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson.
Gordon was born November 9, 1937 in Coldwater, Michigan to Harold & Helen (Potter) Miller. He married Sharon Edgington on January 26, 1957 in Bronson. She preceded him in death February 27, 2000. He then married Verna Swanson June 28, 2003. she also preceded him in death on January 27, 2025.
Gordon worked for the former Climax Corporation and then decided to use his carpentry skills learned from his Grandpa Potter he went to work for Legg Lumber Company and later Wick Homes until its closing. At that time he started his own carpentry /contractor business which he operated for many
years until his retirement, with several of those years working alongside his good friends Marshall Skinner and Everett Smith.
Gordon was a member of Bethel-Gilead Church and a former member of Pleasant Hill Church where he was instrumental in helping to build the Family Life Center. Gordon was never one to set idle and he enjoyed gardening and yard work, but his greatest passion was restoring and collecting antique/vintage cars.
Gordon spent many summers in Charlevoix and enjoyed traveling to Arizona during the colder months. He loved to socialize and cherished his daily morning coffee time with friends whether in Bronson or Charlevoix. Gordon never knew a stranger and loved to strike up a conversation with everyone he met.
Gordon is survived by his children Pam (Kevin) Bowers of Coldwater, Rick (Connie) Miller of Bronson, Lisa (Greg) Harrell of Coldwater; his bonus children Scott (Kathy) Swanson of Indian River, Gregg (Jan) Swanson of East Jordan, Nick (Melissa) Swanson of Charlevoix; his brother Keith (Fran) Miller of Mesa, AZ; his grandchildren Nicole (Seth) Butters, Nathan (Katie) Bowers, Kelsey (Joe) Closson, Kyle (Cairee) Bowers, Michael (Jennifer) Miller, Aaron (Bailey) Miller, Whitney (Arnaud) Willmann, Tyler (Tiffany) Harrell, Jeremy (Jordan) Harrell, Karissa (Kendon) Berg; bonus grandchildren Weston Swanson, Bailey
Swanson, Teagan Swanson, Kelsey Swanson, Miranda Swanson, Katrina Swanson; 26 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
In addition to his wives, he was also preceded in death by his brothers Hal Dean Miller and Robert Miller.
