UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The Union City Community Christmas Basket Project is marking its 44th year of serving local residents in need this holiday season.
Now an outreach initiative of The First Congregational Church UCC of Union City, the project relies entirely on the generosity of the community to help those who are less fortunate. This year, organizers are emphasizing that financial contributions are crucial to the project’s success, noting that 100% of all money donated directly supports area residents.
While rising costs and potential food shortages in pantries and food banks present new challenges, the committee remains committed to a successful season and is reaching out for community support.
Donations can be sent via check, made payable to the Community Christmas Basket Project, P.O. Box 21, Union City, MI 49094.
Basket distribution is scheduled for Saturday, December 20th, at 9:00 a.m. at the Union City High School Cafeteria, located at 430 St. Joseph Street.
Organizers confirm they will continue the tradition of delivering baskets and encourage volunteers to join them at the high school to assist with distribution. Those wishing to submit names for a basket can use the web form at tiny.cc/christmasbasket .
