COLDWATER, MI (WTVB)- Coldwater is gearing up for a full day of festive fun the annual Hometown Holiday celebration continues today.
The second day of the weekend has a wide range of family-friendly activities leading up to the main attraction tonight, the evening holiday parade.
The downtown area will be bustling with entertainment and special promotions from over two dozen participating businesses. Highlights of the day include classic holiday train rides with Santa, a theatrical rock opera performance, a wreath-making workshop, and the annual “Winter Wonderland” themed parade.
Saturday’s Highlights include:
- Christmas Express Train Rides The Little River Railroad will offer festive round-trip journeys to Quincy and back, with Santa Claus aboard for photo opportunities and wish lists.
- The Wizards of Winter Performance The historic Tibbits Opera House will host “The Wizards of Winter,” a holiday progressive rock opera featuring former members of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. The show brings an energetic blend of music, lights, and a captivating story for all ages.
- Hands-on Wreath Workshop For those looking to get creative, Glo Studio will host a fresh wreath workshop where attendees can design their own holiday wreaths. The event includes expert guidance, local greens, ribbons, and complimentary refreshments.
- Annual Holiday Parade & Tree Lighting The day’s events culminate with the annual Christmas Parade, featuring a “Winter Wonderland” theme. The parade steps off downtown at 7:30 p.m., preceded by the “Lights of Love” Tree Lighting ceremony at Four Corners. Parade entries will begin lining up as early as 5:30 p.m., so attendees should be mindful of potential traffic delays along the US-12 route between North Hudson Street and Pierson Street.
