COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – After 49 years of dedicated service to Insight Hospital and Medical Center Coldwater and the surrounding community, Maryanna Cox will punch out for the final time on December 30.
Maryanna began her career at Insight Coldwater in September 1976 after graduating from South Central Michigan School of Practical Nursing. She joined the Insight Coldwater family as a Licensed Practical Nurse on the Medical Unit and later transitioned into Surgical Services, serving as an LPN and Surgical Technicia
Throughout her career, Maryanna witnessed remarkable changes in healthcare—particularly in surgical care. “Procedures that once required several days of inpatient observation are now often done on an outpatient basis,” she said. “The advancements in medical technology are amazing. When I first started, even cataract surgeries required an overnight stay.”
For Maryanna, the most rewarding part of her work has been seeing the positive impact on patients’ lives. “Being part of surgeries that improve a patient’s quality of life is incredibly fulfilling. Our team helps fix issues that allow patients to return to enjoying life to their fullest potential.”
In retirement, Maryanna looks forward to spending time with her nearly one-year-old great-grandchild, becoming more involved in her church, learning to quilt, and traveling.
