COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater outscored Lakeview 23-10 in the second half, turning a one-point halftime lead to a comfortable 43-29 non-conference girls basketball victory Tuesday night.
The Cardinals led 9-5 after the first quarter, but the Spartans had a 14-11 edge in the second thanks in large part to a full-court press they employed. Coldwater led 20-19 at the half before outscoring Lakeview 12-5 in the third and 11-5 in the fourth.
Mya Porter led all scorers with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals, and a block. Addy Bucklin had 15 points, including a 5-for-6 performance at the free throw line, and added 3 boards and 2 steals. Rylie VanAken had 6 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists, and Coley Burkhardt had a team-high 9 boards to go with 4 points and 2 assists. As a team, the Cardinals went 9-for-13 from the charity stripe, compared to the Spartans going 3-for-13 at the line.
Da’Nayah Williams led Lakeview with 6 points, while Emerson and Sydney Manning had 5 apiece. They fell to 0-6 overall.
Coldwater improved to 3-4 overall and will host Pennfield next Tuesday.

Coldwater lost the JV contest 39-37. Claire Paul led the Lady Cards with 12 points, while Ellerie Bucklin had 8 assists.
