BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – Pennfield kept its stranglehold at the top of the Interstate 8 boys basketball standings as they held off Coldwater 71-60 Tuesday night. The Panthers improved to 4-0 in the league and 7-2 overall with the win.
Julian Thompson had a team-high 16 points, while Gavin Taylor added 11, as the Cardinals fell to 3-7 overall and 1-3 in the Interstate 8. They will visit Harper Creek Friday.
The Coldwater JV boys basketball team lost to Pennfield 52-50. Joe Hayward and Wayne Case led the scoring with 14 points each.
Quincy improved to 3-4 overall as they picked up a 52-49 non-conference win at Climax-Scotts. The Orioles will visit Maple Valley on Thursday.
Bronson lost to visiting Sturgis 51-23. The Vikings fell to 3-5 overall and will visit Springport on Thursday.
Union City fell to 2-7 overall as they dropped a 64-46 decision at Hillsdale. The Chargers will host Reading Thursday night.
In girls basketball, Union City fell from the ranks of the unbeaten as they lost at Stockbridge 46-38. The Lady Chargers are now 7-1 overall, 2-1 in the Big 8, and will entertain Reading Friday night.
