COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) -The Coldwater Board of Public Utilities (CBPU) continues to offer its “Simply Efficient” Energy Optimization program in 2026, providing residential customers with cash incentives for purchasing ENERGY STAR certified appliances and energy-efficient equipment.
Notable for the current winter season is a specialized $500 rebate for induction cooktop installations, which was recently highlighted to encourage home energy savings.
Other standard residential rebates include $50 for refrigerators, freezers, and dehumidifiers, as well as $25 for dishwashers, clothes washers, and electric dryers. Larger incentives are available for heating and cooling upgrades, with central air conditioning units eligible for up to $300 and air-source heat pumps qualifying for up to $350.
To secure these savings, Coldwater residents must be active CBPU electric customers and submit their 2026 Residential Rebate Application along with invoices within 60 days of purchase or installation.
Beyond standard appliances, the program also covers smart thermostats ($50), energy-efficient pool pumps ($150), and various LED lighting fixtures. Local businesses and industrial customers can also access tailored prescriptive rebates for lighting, HVAC systems, and motors.
Forms and full program guidelines are available at the CBPU Energy Optimization website or for pickup at the CBPU office.
