COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Sheriff’s Office has received a $100,000 grant from the Michigan Municipal Risk Management Authority (MMRMA) through its Risk Avoidance Program to help fund the implementation of body-worn cameras for deputies and in-car camera systems in patrol vehicles.
The funding is designed to offset significant equipment costs and ease the financial burden on local taxpayers.
Sheriff Fred Blankenship expressed appreciation for the support, stating, “We are grateful to MMRMA for their continued support of Branch County and our Sheriff’s Office, this grant allows us to modernize our equipment in a fiscally responsible way while enhancing safety and accountability for both our deputies and the public we serve.”
The cameras are expected to promote greater transparency in law enforcement interactions, improve officer safety, and provide valuable documentation for investigations and training, aligning with ongoing efforts to build community trust in and around Branch County.
