COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Blowing and drifting snow wreaked havoc on area roads Tuesday with numerous accidents and slide-offs.
At one point Tuesday evening 1-69 was nearly shut down from the Indiana State Line to around the Kinderhook exit due to several slide-offs from the slick conditions.
Law enforcement sent extra resources to the area along that section of the interstate to control traffic for the safety of those involved and the tow trucks trying to pull vehicles back onto the road. It also allowed salt trucks to treat the area. There have been no reports of any serious injuries.
As for the morning commute you will still find many roads are snow covered and slick as road crews including the Branch County Road Commission recover from yesterday’s relentless winds that made keeping the roads clear a nearly impossible task.
