QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – Snowcoming, Winter Homecoming, Winter Carnival – whatever it’s called, winter celebrations were the order of the day Friday throughout the Big 8 Conference.
Oriole Week at Quincy High School concluded with a 61-44 boys basketball win over longtime rival Reading. The Orioles improved to 6-7 overall, 3-5 in the Big 8, and will visit Bellevue on Monday. Noah Rufenacht and Olivia Davenport were crowned Oriole Week King and Queen during halftime.
Elsewhere, Union City spoiled Winter Homecoming at Maple Valley with a come-from-behind 62-54 victory. The Chargers outscored the Lions 26-11 in the final quarter as they improved to 4-10 overall and 3-5 in the Big 8. They will host Bronson Monday night in a contest rescheduled from a January 23rd cancellation.
The Vikings were unable to spoil Snowcoming at Concord, as the Yellowjackets prevailed 68-25. Bronson fell to 7-8 overall and 4-4 in the Big 8 with the loss.
