UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson Vikings are picking up steam heading into the final weeks of the boys basketball season.
The Vikings got to the .500 mark Monday night as they defeated the Union City Chargers 62-49 at McNett Fieldhouse.
The game was originally scheduled for Union City’s Hall of Fame night on January 23rd but was postponed due to poor weather conditions.
Bronson used a balanced attack on Monday as four players finished in double figures. Zeb Olson led the Vikings with 16 points while Owen Losinski had 15 points. Spencer Losinski and Warner Wotta both had 10 points for Bronson.
Micah Payne led Union City with 17 points.
After Bronson jumped out to a 26-21 halftime lead, the Chargers rallied and outscored the Vikings 22-15 in the third quarter to take a 43-41 lead.
But it was all purple and gold in the fourth period as the Vikings broke open the close game and outscored the Chargers 21-6.
Bronson made hay at the charity stripe as they were 16-of-25 from the foul line while Union City was 9-for-14.
Bronson has won five of their last six games. They are now 8-8 overall and 5-4 in the Big Eight Conference. Union City dropped to 4-11 overall and 3-6 in league play.
Bronson also won Monday’s JV game 48-39.
Quincy improved to 7-7 on the season with an 85-56 at Bellevue.
The Quincy girls team in now 7-6 after a 47-31 at Colon Monday.
Tuesday the Coldwater girls JV and varsity teams will host East Lansing in non-conference action. Live coverage on AM 1590 and FM 95.5 begins at 6:45 p.m.
The Coldwater boys will be on the road at Parchment.
