COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A 53-year-old Branch County man faces potential felony charges following a narcotics investigation that culminated in a late-night traffic stop on Saturday.
According to Sheriff Fred Blankenship, deputies launched the probe in January after receiving tips that the suspect was distributing methamphetamine. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the suspect during nighttime hours on February 7. During the traffic stop, deputies located packages of suspected methamphetamine.
The investigation shifted to a residence in the 300 block of Perkins Street, where deputies executed a search warrant.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Office reported finding additional suspected narcotics, evidence of drug sales, and several firearms inside the home.
Assisted by the Coldwater Police Department and its K-9 unit, authorities are now awaiting a formal review of the case by the Branch County Prosecutor’s Office to determine specific felony charges.
The suspect’s identity was released pending formal arraignment.
