COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – After a one year hiatus, the classic car cruise during the annual Branch County Car Show and Swap Meet will be back this year.
But unlike in past years, the route will be shorter and will not travel through the north side of Coldwater.
The Coldwater City Council approved a request from Branch County Fair Manager and Secretary Alyssa Blonde Monday night to have the cruise Saturday, May 9.
Blonde said the cruise will form at the fairgrounds at 3:00 p.m. and move at 3:30 p.m. going north on Jefferson to U.S. 12 then west on Chicago through the business district at 4:00 p.m. It will then turn south on Clay Street, then head east on Park Street, to Jefferson and then south back to the Fairgrounds.
The same route will be used during the annual Branch County Fair Parade on August 8 which was also approved by the City Council as part of the consent agenda on Monday night.
In the past, the classic car cruise would travel along Marshall, Grand, Bishop and Western Avenue before turning east at U.S. 12.
After uncertainty when previous organizers canceled the decades-long tradition, the Branch County Fair Directors and Staff stepped in last March to ensure the 2025 show would go on. But by the time that happened, it was to late to seek permission from the city to shut down traffic along the cruise route.
