COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – After all of the wrangling for over a year about the heating, ventilation and air conditioning problems at the Burnside Senior Center, Commission on Aging Executive Director Amy Duff finally had some good news during the Branch County Board of Commissioners work session Thursday.
Duff said a letter sent with the commissioners approval last month to the corporate office for Carrier Corporation in Connecticut seems to have made a positive impact on fixing the HVAC software issues.
The letter gave a six month deadline to UTC Climate, Controls and Security to fix the problems.
A new HVAC system was installed as part of a major renovation to the facility but it has not functioned properly.
Duff also said the paperwork concerning the warranty has been straightened out.
Duff said they are still experiencing issues with humidity.
While it’s been humid in the building, Duff said there has been no mold.
The roof that was damaged last November by a strong pressure imbalance in the HVAC system has not been repaired yet. Duff indicated Carrier has provided some financial concessions to the architect so that the Commission on Aging will not have to pay for the repairs.
