COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council approved a pair of resolutions on Monday night in regards to the sale of nine vacant parcels of land on Wallace Lane totaling $180,000 that will be used as part of the first phase of the Western Meadows development.
One of the sales involves four parcels being sold by the city to Alliance Homebuilders, LLC. The second resolution covers the city selling five parcels to Green Development Ventures, LLC.
Plans call for single-family homes to be built on the land along Western Avenue. Each of the parcels are being sold for $20,000.
Alliance Homebuilders is owned and operated by David and Monica Lowder while Green Development Ventures is owned and operated by Allen Edwin Homes. Both companies have built several homes in Coldwater and the surrounding area.
The resolutions were introduced January 26 by the City Council. The City Charter requires that when public property is sold, the conveyance must remain on the table for 30 days for public inspection.
Monday was the first regularly scheduled Council meeting after the 30-day time period expired.
Western Meadows will consist of three phases. The development is scheduled to have 30 to 35 condo units. The City purchased the 14-and-a-half acre property along Western Avenue from Robert and Phyllis Rumsey on October 26, 2016 for just over $95,800. They leased a portion of the land for farming to Sexton Farms for several years.
