COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – On the eve of a new school year, the Coldwater Community Schools Board of Education approved new three year contracts Monday with both the Coldwater Education Association and the Coldwater Educational Support Personnel Association. Both deals had already been ratified by union members and both contracts run through 2021.
The action by the board came after a nearly one hour executive session.
Superintendent Terry Boguth said the CEA contract calls for a two percent salary and benefit increase for the 2018-2019 school year.
The CESPA deal calls for a two percent salary increase on a revised pay scale due to the Michigan minimum wage going up to $9.25.
Insurance for both contracts will stay the same at 80/20.
Also during Monday’s special meeting, the board formally approved the hiring of long time Coldwater school employee Tobi Reardon as the new Jefferson Elementary School principal.
Reardon takes over for Peter Rogovich, who left after taking a principal’s job at an elementary school in Zeeland, which allowed him to be closer to his family.
Reardon is entering her 20th year of employment in the Coldwater School District. She previously worked as the Interventionist at Jefferson.
The board also approved a revised 2018-2019 elementary parent handbook.
