COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater is now 2-0 against Branch County’s other girls soccer teams this season after they blanked visiting Bronson 7-0 Thursday night.
Aivry Chavez recorded a natural hat trick, scoring all three of her goals in the first half. Salet Morera Valdes, Samantha Bernard, and Esme Chavero recorded the other first half goals for the Cardinals as they took a 6-0 lead to the halftime break. Annamarie Baker had the only score for Coldwater in the second half. Bernard, Ava Gilchrist, Juliana McCuen, Etta Machan, Tallie Blankenship, and Kadence George each had assists, and goalie Abby Garcia made two saves.
The Cardinals improved to 5-2-1 and will visit Dowagiac on Monday. The Vikings fell to 3-4-1 and play at Springport on Monday.
Two separate thundershowers Wednesday in western Jackson County forced Coldwater’s varsity match at Parma Western to be postponed until Monday, May 11th. They were able to get the JV contest in, with the Panthers recording an 8-0 shutout.
